Set in the quiet conservation area of Kinnoull Hill in Perth, just 2 minutes walk from the River Tay, Woodcroft House has a secluded and elevated position with views over Perth and the Perthshire hills. This Victorian building retains many of its original arts and crafts features, such as rose cornices and wood panelling.
Guests can choose from 3 luxurious en-suite rooms. All bedrooms have antique furniture, super soft carpets, Egyptian Cotton bed linen, Smart TV (streaming Netflix and Amazon Prime), high-speed WiFi, mini fridge (with complimentary waters & fizzy drinks), gourmet tea, coffee machine and traditional homemade Scottish treats. The bathrooms have underfloor heating, bathrobes and luxury toiletries, with two including a free standing Heritage claw foot cast iron bath as well as separate shower. The Turret Suite has an Emperor size bed (7ft x 7ft) and two seating areas so you can enjoy the garden and the panoramic views of the hills.
Meals are served in the Peacock Dining Room where you can start your morning with an extensive Continental Buffet plus a choice of indulgent and healthy hot options. Your host Claire is passionate about food and uses locally sourced ingredients including eggs from Woodcroft's resident hens. An à la carte menu is available in the evenings featuring options such as game, seafood, meat and poultry, plus an extensive range of plant based vegan and vegetarian dishes, along with a gluten free menu. Relax in opulent surroundings with candlelight and a roaring log fire. Claire also serves a magnificent homemade Afternoon Tea (extra charge) which you can savour in the garden, guest lounge or dining room.
The small city of Perth was the old capital of Scotland and is steeped in history which you can explore at Perth Museum and Art Gallery or the nearby Black Watch Regimental Museum. Perth has riverside walks, shops, farmers market, restaurants, plus its own theatre and a concert hall which usually have a wide ranging events programme. Just outside Perth is the 5 star visitor attraction at Scone Palace which was the crowning-place of Scottish kings for hundreds of years.
Have a day at the races at Perth Racecourse, try ice skating at Dewars Centre, or take a wander around Branklyn Garden (National Trust for Scotland) on Kinnoull Hill. In addition to the golf courses in Perth, there are many more within a short drive including Gleneagles and Blairgowrie.
Also known as 'Big Tree Country', Perthshire has something for everyone who enjoys the great outdoors from hills and glens to rivers and waterfalls. There are lots of opportunities for walking, cycling, water-rafting and wildlife watching.
