Scotland's Best B&Bs

Sharvedda, Strathy Point

4 Star GOLD B&B located at Strathy Point on the spectacular North Coast.

Sharvedda at Strathy Point occupies one of the most spectacular and dramatic parts of Scotland, where the landscape projects far to the north of the surrounding coastline. Explore the caves at Strathy Bay with its wide sandy beach and rocky sea stacks. Cliff-top colonies of sea birds including puffins come ashore to breed, while whales, dolphins and seals are regular visitors.

Views out to sea and across the heather moorland can be seen from all of the guest rooms. There are 2 ensuite bedrooms (1 Double and 1 Twin) which both have a hospitality tray, complimentary toiletries, TV and hairdryer.

A freshly cooked breakfast is served in the conservatory with panoramic views from Strathy Point to Dunnet Head and across the waters of the Pentland Firth to the Orkney Islands. Choose from a full Scottish or local specialities such as smoked Scrabster haddock with poached egg.
Light evening meals are available by arrangement. The comfortable guest lounge offers stunning views over Strathy Bay. You can relax here with some home baking and a welcoming fire if there's a chill in the air.

Meet the resident alpacas on the croft at Sharvedda and make friends with Mungo, Mackay and Malcolm! This B&B also has 2 electric car-charging points (one of which is for Tesla cars) which guests can use for free. There's also lockable storage space for bikes and other sporting equipment.

Sharvedda is located a few miles off the popular North Coast 500 route. Enjoy remoteness and tranquillity at this B&B. It is perfect for anyone who loves nature and the outdoors or would like a stopover for Orkney day trips and the Castle of Mey. A splendid day's walking can be enjoyed at Ben Hope or Ben Loyal, the most northerly Munro. Your hosts can tell you where to spot puffins in the summer months. Sea, loch and river fishing are close by, as well as an 18 hole links golf course at Reay. The waters offer some of the best surf in the country and local enthusiasts can be seen riding the waves at Strathy, Melvich and Farr Bay. Visit Dunnet Head (the most northerly point on the British mainland) or Cape Wrath (the most north-westerly point).
For whisky and gin lovers, Dunnet Bay Distillery, Old Pulteney Distillery and Wolfburn Distillery are within a short drive.
