Scotland’s Best B&Bs is a member-led marketing organisation which has been showcasing some of the best B&Bs across Scotland since 1996. We are inviting new members for 2024.

Membership Criteria

• Offer excellent customer service and warm hospitality
• That special something which makes you stand out from all the rest
• Small B&B or Guest House accommodating no more than 12 guests in 5 bedrooms
• Establishments which are graded by VisitScotland must have a minimum 4 star VisitScotland grading (78% score). Non-VS graded members should demonstrate a similar level of commitment to quality and service.

A preference is given to members in new areas to complement the good geographic spread of B&Bs, as well as filling the positions of any retiring members.

There is an annual subscription which enables the organisation to run this website and work with a marketing budget. 

The management of the organisation is by a small committee of volunteer members who make budget decisions, advertising policy and recommendations to the members at an AGM held each year in the winter. 

Membership Benefits include:

• A well maintained website with members' pages linked to the Freetobook online booking system and their own website so you can get commission-free direct bookings.
• Regular email newsletter with over 16,000 subscribers.
• Social media promotion via Facebook (over 14,500 followers) and Instagram (over 1,100 followers).
• Other marketing activity to promote the group, e.g. competitions.
• A members-only Facebook support group and a WhatsApp group with a sense of community amongst members to support each other.
• A members' newsletter giving updates on activity and tips, plus an annual social media calendar.

In 2021-23 we benefitted from a marketing grant from VisitScotland. Our website had 163 K unique page views and 78 K users in 2021, 352 K unique page views and 195 K users in 2022, and 242 K page views and 93 K users in 2023.

Within a year of opening my home to guests, I joined SBB&Bs I've learned to make my own marmalade, inspired to keep hens and gained tips for photography that I've used on my website. There's a wealth of knowledge just a message or a call away. When I hear a 'wow' from a guest, it's often from a tiny element that I've gleaned from another member. They keep me abreast too of the fire regulations, licensing, and food allergy laws.
